Support and networking

Discover a network of like-minded women dedicated to farming, agriculture, and horticulture.

The LRSN Women In Wellies project creates opportunities for women in farming, agriculture, and horticulture to come together, meet socially, and develop peer support relationships via hosted sessions, while also creating opportunities for LRSN to provide health and wellbeing support.

“It’s excellent, uplifting, and inspirational!”

WiW attendee, My Guilty Pleasure

Each session is led by one of the LRSN nurses, who will offer health screening checks alongside a focus on delivering health information, awareness-raising, and supporting improved well-being.

Strong Enough for the Long Haul

Date: Monday 27th April 2026
Time: 1pm – 3.30pm
Location: Bucknall Village Hall, Main Road, Bucknall, Lincolnshire, LN10 5DT

An interactive wellbeing workshop for women connected to farming and horticultural life.
Women in families involved in these two demanding industries often carry significant responsibility, both practically and emotionally.  They support businesses through unpredictable seasons, manage households alongside agricultural demands, and frequently prioritise everyone else’s needs above their own.  Many acknowledge that they are running on little more than caffeine and determination, resorting to emotional eating and other self-destructive habits.
Strong Enough for the Long Haul is a two-hour wellbeing workshop led by therapist and radio presenter Anna Yates.  The session offers practical, grounded support tailored to the realities of rural living and includes guided discussion, practical strategies and a calming hypnosis relaxation session designed to restore steadiness and self-trust.
The workshop explores:
• Confidence beyond appearance
• Hormonal changes and their impact on mood and energy
• Eating for strength and emotional stability rather than weight loss
• Preventing burnout in demanding seasons
• Small, sustainable shifts that protect long-term wellbeing
Supporting the wellbeing of women within farming and horticultural communities is an important part of wider rural mental health awareness.  When women are better supported physically and emotionally, families and businesses are stronger and more resilient.  This workshop provides a safe and respectful space to begin that conversation.  It is not a diet-focused event.  It is a down-to-earth, supportive session aimed at sustaining the woman who helps sustain everything and everyone else.  All ages welcome.

What Horses Teach us About Being Human

Date: Monday 18th May
Time: 10.30am – 1pm
Location: South Cottage, Wood Langham, Legsby, Market Rasen, Lincolnshire, LN8 3QR

Back by popular demand! We will once again be joining Heidi Dawson for another fabulous session with her horses.

Horses offer a surprising, yet powerful lens for understanding emotional intelligence. As highly intuitive animals, they live in the moment, relying on non-verbal cues and emotional congruence to navigate their environment. Their sensitivity to human emotions makes them exceptional learning partners, offering us a rare opportunity to observe and reflect on our own communication and emotional presence.

Join us to enjoy some time in nature, with a cosy yurt to call upon if the weather requires it.

There will be opportunities to spend time with Heidi’s horses, if you wish, but it’s not obligatory.

The Women in Wellies sessions are a great way of helping people; these sessions are fantastic for learning a new skill or hobby, listening to someone inspirational, or finding out information about health issues. It’s a perfect opportunity to network with like-minded people.
