Sarah PoucherLRSN are delighted to be working in partnership with local artist Jane Haigh on a fundraising and awareness project. Jane’s farming roots lead her to want to make a connection with and support the work LRSN does with Lincolnshire agricultural and horticultural communities.
Jane Haigh’s family moved to Lincolnshire nearly forty years ago, she joined Young Farmers and was welcomed with open arms. Many of her new friends were from the farming industry, in fact that’s how she met her future husband, a dairy farmers son from New Zealand who was in Lincolnshire working on an arable farm.
Whilst talking to LRSN Jane said “Over the years, farming has changed beyond recognition, and many of our Young Farmer friends have since left the industry. I remain deeply aware of the struggles farmers face – how much is outside their control, and how powerless they can feel against forces they cannot resist.
It felt right, then, to find a way to give something back. I approached the LRSN about collaborating and invited them to choose one of my images from which I would donate a percentage of proceeds from every product made – cards, prints, and any other items bearing that artwork. Rather than a single gift, it would become an ongoing relationship, with every sale continuing to support the charity’s work. “
Jane’s beautiful artwork of a stunning Lincoln Red Bull named Cassie, resplendent in his champions sashes and rosettes has been made into tea towels, bookmarks, cards and much more with a percentage of all sales being donated to LRSN.
