Harness Your Skills

It’s your time that makes the difference, discover the three ways you can volunteer at LRSN and get involved today.

LRSN’s established volunteer network brings the agricultural and horticultural communities together to help raise awareness of the charity across Lincolnshire. Alongside our staff team, our volunteers deliver a varied range of community-led activities and events that help to tackle isolation, improve wellbeing and empower the local agricultural and horticultural community to participate.
At LRSN our volunteers fall into three groups – helpline volunteers, casework volunteers and taskforce volunteers. These groups are not exclusive, with some of our volunteers being members of more than one.

“Volunteering with LRSN helped me to meet new friends as well as help people. The best part of volunteering for me was when we had a chap who said he was at zero, but after receiving our help, he was at an eight and rising. That’s what it’s all about for me.”

Marie, Helpline Volunteer

Helpline volunteers

Our helpline volunteers answer the phone. The helpline is open 12 hours a day, but the volunteers work in 4-hour shifts. We deliver a full induction and training before our volunteers must answer any calls. If you are sympathetic to the worries and issues of the agricultural and horticultural communities, and are a good listener, you would be ideal to be an LRSN helpline volunteer.

LRSN casework volunteers

This group has accrued many different qualifications and a wealth of experience between them. If you have a knowledge of and practical experience in the agricultural and or horticultural industries, financial expertise, experience in delivering counselling or holistic therapies and are a good listener with a few hours to spare, volunteering as a caseworker for LRSN could be perfect for you. This is by no means an exhaustive list of essentials and desirables for our casework team, if you think that you can contribute to LRSN’s casework volunteer team, please get in touch.

Taskforce volunteers

The taskforce is a collection of volunteers with a passion for raising awareness of LRSN through events and activities. Utilising their skills to help organise fundraising events in the name of LRSN, support others in their delivery of their events in aid of LRSN as well as offering inspiring ideas to the staff team. The taskforce volunteers can often be found outside the Health Hut encouraging people to step inside for a health check with one of our nurses.
If you would like to become a volunteer for LRSN, please contact Lou Guant from the LRSN team.

Together, we can ensure that LRSN continues to be the cornerstone of support for Lincolnshire’s agricultural and horticultural communities, strengthening the backbone of our society for generations to come.

Volunteering with LRSN is something that gives me so much pleasure, knowing that a few moments of my time can make a difference to someone else is a great feeling. I have met so many great people through volunteering for LRSN, the team of volunteers are fabulous and everyone just mucks in together. I love it!
